Just a few days ago, the Ghanaian social media space was set ablaze by Akuapem Poloo, the controversial actress and baddass slay queen of Ghana showbiz. What was supposed to be a birthday celebration of her 7-year old son, rather metamorphosed into an adult movie.
Yes! As if she was a stripper, Poloo actually had the nerves to upload a nude photo of herselfin front of the naked eyes of her son. After her picture went viral, many Ghanaians took to social media to lament their anger at her sheer madness. What was the motivation for her controversial post?
According to the actress’ own words attached to the sorry post, she vividly remembers how she gave birth to her son without going through extreme pains.
Poloo then went ahead to add more nonsense to her post by saying that she was naked when she was giving birth to her son. Therefore, as his 7-year-old son celebrated his birthday, she had to show her nakedness to him once again. Unbelievable!
Well, maybe that’s just how controversial single mothers celebrate their children’s birthdays. Nevertheless, her actions faced serious backlash from authorities.
CID Invites Akuapem Poloo Over Her Photo
Following the release of her controversial picture, there were allegations that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Ghana Police Service, had invited Akuapem Poloo to investigate her misdemeanor.
On her part, Poloo denied the CID allegations, but offered an unqualified apology for her insensitive actions. Explaining her post, Poloo justified that she’s just an actress who was trying to put a message across the country. Her message was that children should learn to love their parents no matter the situation. “What I was trying to say that, no matter how naked you see your parents, don’t run away from them”, Poloo explained in her apology video.
The big question is — what has an artistic impression got to do with exposing your nakedness to your child? Couldn’t she have used a different picture to convey the message of children loving their parents unconditionally?
Her action doesn’t seem to make sense, and no amount of explanation can correct the harm she has already caused herself.
Some gender activists and child rights groups have strongly criticized the budding actress for her senseless violation of child rights. Accordingly, there are reports that Akuapem Poloo is in hot water as she’s likely to face legal charges for her child abuse. If that happens to be the case, she could spend up to 3 years in prison for her ill-fated post.
Shockingly, there are mixed reactions to the matter. Efia Odo was one of the few crazy people who jumped to defend Poloo for her outright wrongdoing.
