The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku says the local football industry will need a miracle to be fully revived from the huge challenges faced in the last three years.
Ghana Football has experienced very tough times with the Anas Expose and the CoronaVirus Pandemic causing a long abatement of football activities.
After investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas aired his Number 12 documentary, Ghana Football’s foundations were shaken and every plan was thrown into disarray.
Eventually the Normalisation Committee came on board to steer Ghana Football back on track albeit their operations were met with other challenges.
With the new GFA leadership stepping into office after last year’s elections, there was a grand plan to revive Ghana Football. In fact all was going according to the script until the CoronaVirus Pandemic also hit hard at the local football industry.
There are bold decisions to make especially regarding the next step to take with football activities halted since March.
With the future very much uncertain, the GFA boss Kurt Okraku has admitted that the impact of the Anas expose and the CoronaVirus pandemic has left Ghana Football needing a massive reboot.
“To talk about the impact of the Covid-19 on the football industry is unquantifiable, when I think about my colleague club owners, I own virtually five football clubs, and I take care of every player in this football club, so you can just imagine”,Okraku stated in a live video chat with Happy FM’s Ohene Bampoe Brenya.
“Now go to other 18 premier league clubs, 48 division one league clubs, division two clubs across the country, division 3 clubs, juvenile football” he continued.
“So you can clearly say the football industry has really suffered in the last 3 years or thereabout and honestly, it will take God’s intervention for us to be on our feet again” he noted.
