Operation Vanguard has launched a manhunt for Galamsey Kingpin Leodickson Owusu Ansah for breaking jail after being arrested for causing financial loss to the state.No description available.

Operation Vanguard, made up of Security personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces(GAF) and the Police Service who were tasked to stay at their assigned regions until all forms of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, have been stopped and unauthorised mining pits permanently destroyed, arrested Leodickson Owusu Ansah together with Fifty other suspected illegal miners in a swoop at Akwaboso, Ameyaw and Nkronua in the Central region.

Sixteen of the suspects are Chinese nationals. The rest were operating in the East Akim municipality of the Eastern region.

Speaking to the press, the Public Relation Officer of the Operation Vanguard, Captain Andy Sowatey said nine of the suspects were Ghanaians while the others were Chinese, Guinean and Burkinabe nationals.

“We arrested 16 Chinese illegal miners at Akwaaboso and Ameyaw in the Central region together with five excavators. Also some 34 suspected illegal miners were arrested in the East Akim Municipality in the Eastern region on Friday.

He continued,” Leo,then managed to escape and we realised that the name that he gave after being arrested was fake. He said he was called Buyer.but after conducting investigations into the matter, we found out that his real name is Leodickson Owusu Ansah”.

We are however, calling on anyone with the whereabouts of Leo to report him to the nearest Police Station for a handsome reward.
