About 5 months ago, the biggest embarrassment to hit Ghana showbiz took place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. It happened in early December 2019 when talented American rapper Cardi B, came to Ghana for the Year of Return concert.
Today, we recall that very embarrassing moment when a cohort of so-called female Ghanaian celebrities trooped to the Kempinski Hotel to have a meet-and-greet session with Cardio B. Among the Ghanaian “celebrities” were actresses like Rosemond Brown, Hajia4real, and Moesha Budong.
Rosemond Brown (aka Akuapem Poloo) is an instagram model, a budding actress, and above all — a badass slay queen. The funny thing about the meet-and-greet session was that Cardi B wasn’t even aware Ghanaian “slay queens” had turned up in their numbers to catch a glimpse of her. Apparently, this was due to a miscommunication between the event promoters and the American songstress.
Anyway, the fake celebrities came. They watched Cardi chew her kebab in grand style while basking in the sun. Surprisingly, none of the GH celebs mustered courage to approach the rap goddess. No! Not even the outspoken Afia Schwarzenegger.
Finally, after long hours of waiting in vain, attention seekers like Wendy Shay, Moesha Budong and Hajia4real, went home with heavy hearts. They later took to social media to vent their frustrations. As for Bullet’s presence among the women, only God knows what he was doing there with such a baggy pair of trousers.
Thanks to her humility and laudable patience, Rosemond Brown finally had a chance to meet Cardi B in person. Dressed up in her simple jeans, Poloo was glad to have met with Cardi B (her music idol).
Well, Cardi B was also very down-to-earth, and equally excited to see Poloo who she later described as her twin sister. Their chemistry was fantastic.
Upon Poloo’s humble request, Cardi B agreed to have a dance competition with her new Ghanaian friend. When Poloo took to the floor and began to exhibit her dancing skills, it was a delight to watch, except the ending. No one knew Poloo had a wig on, until it came off in the heat of the moment. Cardi B was right there when Poloo’s wig fell off and left her with a shiny scalp.
Consumed by laughter and embarrassment, the actress grabbed her fallen wig and re-fixed it to her head. Poloo had just killed the show. The dance competition was over. Cardi B declared Akuapem Poloo as the winner. They became good friends afterwards.
As we speak today, Akuapem Poloo has been stalking Cardi B on Instagram. Nevertheless, Cardi’s show in Ghana wasn’t bad at all.
