Finally, John Dramani Mahama, the NDC presidential flagbearer for the 2020 election, has appointed Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate. By virtue of this announcement, Mahama has made history in the annals of Ghanaian mainstream politics.
But most especially, it opens a new chapter for the future of the NDC party. This is the first time in NDC’s history that a flagbearer is running for president with a woman as his vice. If everything goes according to plans for the election, Naana will go down in history as Ghana’s first female Veep. Anyway, for the NPP, the battle is still the Lord’s.
According to official sources, the NDC party’s Council of Elders has unanimously approved the ex-president’s choice of running mate.
But who is Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang? And why did Mahama swerve former finance Minister Kwabena Duffour, who was much hyped as the favorite?
