Talented ManCity midfielder KDB (Kevin de Bruyne), has won the Premier League Player of the Season (2019/20) award. He beat LiverpoolFC stars such as Sadio Mane, Arnold (TAA), and Henderson — to lift home the ultimate EPL prize to the Etihad stadium. Manager Pep Guardialo and the Manchester City must be so proud of the achievements of their Belgian playmaker.
Competition for the EPL award was stiff since de Bruyne also faced top players like Danny Ings of Southampton, Nick Pope of Burnley, and Jamie Vardy of Leicester City, winner of the EPL Golden Boot 2020 award.
Among the whole ManCity squad, de Bruyne was the only superstar to make the list, given that he scored 13 times and made 20 assists. Despite his contributions, the Citizens painfully lost their EPL title to Liverpool, and also missed out on the champions league semis.
Manchester Citylooked shaky with a leaky defense throughout the 2019/20 EPL Campaign. And that was why they couldn’t come close to defending their title.
In the previous year (2019), City used a narrow one-point difference to secure their premier league trophy. Second-placed Jürgen Klopp of Liverpool then went home to do his assignment properly.
The German coach built an unstoppable team of players, and used his in-inform players to win the 2020 EPL trophy by a record point margin. When the Merseysiders Reds lifted their premier league trophy after 30 years, they were still left with 7 matches to finish off the season.
A new EPL season begins in September. Can Manchester City win back the title in the next campaign? And will LiverpoolFC try to dominate the game again?
These are some interesting questions that premier league fans are pondering over. The summer transfer window is still open, and as top teams like Manchester United and Chelsea strengthen their squad, predicting the next winner is actually harder than you thought.
