Progress Records grew from the vision of founder and CEO, Christian Ekwerike. Music is one of Christian’s great love affairs along his life journey which was born from his discovery of Australian/Maori talent CANDICE. Progress Records core business is to support the development of raw talent and to instill solid values in order to change lives.
Through delicate entrepreneurship, Christian built the foundations of Progress Records and officially launched the label on the 3rd of November 2018 with an intimate, yet impactful, event in the Western Suburbs town of Merrylands.
A guest appearance from prolific UK based African artist DJ Juls marked the significance of unity within the community through a line up of diverse talents from African, European, Asian, Indigenous Australian and Anglo Australian performers.
Drawing from his humble beginnings growing up in Nigeria, experiencing first hand the blessings of being given a chance in another country, Christian set out with a mission to give a voice to the unheard.
Featured on SBS World News on Christmas Day 2018, his plight to showcase the talents of Western Sydney’s diverse creative community against a very traditional and ordinary mainstream music industry was acknowledged.
The melange of sounds and styles is a staple of the evolving nature of music and expression. This new concept saw the studio production of Candice & Christian’s written work and recorded lyrics evolve into the release of 5 singles and 2 music videos before the most recent release of the 2020 EP “My Gift To You”.
With a bag full of talent and creative contributions from an array of Western Sydney’s finest in audio and visual engineering , Progress Records is a mighty force in Australia’s developing music industry. There is no mountain too great and we will go the extra mile to discover and develop artists who have a story to tell. “We are ready to take it all on only by God’s grace”.
